Applying for a Study Permit for Canada
Once you have successfully applied for a course of study at a Canadian institute you will need to apply for a study permit straight away, and this can be done from your nearest Canadian diplomatic mission.
For some nationals you may also need to apply for a visa as well, so it is important to check this before you send off your study permit, as they will issued these at the same time.
To apply for a study permit for Canada you will need the following documents:
- A valid passport (this must cover the entire period you intend to stay in the country, so if you are taking a 1 year course you will need to have at least 18 months left before the expiry date).
- The original letter of acceptance from the institute of learning.
- You must be able to prove you have adequate funds to cover your tuition fees and living costs.
- You may also be asked to provide a letter of reference from a dependable non-family member in your community.
